Adrien Blind Engineer

Why did you join Valtech?

I studied at IAAI in Marseille, which is a school that specializes in Internet technologies. Valtech is known for its strong expertise in J2EE and .NET technologies, and lots of people from my school suggested that I join Valtech after I met their people at a job fair in Paris.

How did your first few days go?

The project that I was originally assigned fell through, so it was a good opportunity to teach myself UML immediately and take a training course in XML. After a few weeks, I finally had the opportunity to go on an assignment involving application performance. I hadn’t joined Valtech with the idea of working in that area, but I liked it right away. I got to combine my network and infrastructure skills with Valtech’s expertise on the performance of complex applications.

The more experienced consultants were supportive right from the start, which gave me a feeling of confidence when I joined the team. I was pleasantly surprised by the level of responsibility I was gradually given over the first few months of the project.

I had just arrived when Valtech decided to train me on Mercury. It’s really good to see a company that trains you right off the bat.

What do you like best about working at Valtech?

Besides everything I just said, it would have to be the wide range of available skills at Valtech that appealed to me the most.

The people I work with communicate a lot with each other and with me. At Valtech, there’s no rigid structure or hierarchy, which is really great and makes communication a lot easier.

What are you currently working on at Valtech?

I’m working on application performance for the company Agefos, which I’m really enjoying.

Are there any other comments you would like to make about working at Valtech?

Yes. Even before I joined the company, they asked if I’d be willing to go to London for my first assignment. I was glad to see that you could have the opportunity to travel abroad right from the start.
