Where did you work previously?
I worked at a government astrophysics laboratory in Orsay.
What attracted you to Valtech?
It was the most legit offer I received, and I saw Valtech training as a real plus. I also enjoyed the time I spent with the people who interviewed me, and I had a chance to talk with a Valtech consultant who shared his experiences with me.
Why do you think that Valtech is not just another IT service company?
I find that most IT service companies hire on the basis of a well-defined project and try to find someone out on the market who’s a good fit. At Valtech, it’s the person’s qualifications that matter most; the project comes second.
What are you currently working on at Valtech?
Ever since I arrived, I’ve been working for General Electric. I’ve now been working on this assignment for about a year, which is what I wanted. I think it’s good to work on long-term assignments so that you can really get involved in the client’s project. I’m mainly working on Java and Web development.
What do you like best about working at Valtech?
I like the fact that you quickly have an opportunity to make suggestions to the client. There are two Valtech consultants working on my project, and we’re really a source of expertise and advice for the client. I find it’s better not to work alone at a client site.
Things are on the move at Valtech. We’re always learning new things about different technologies. I recently had an opportunity to participate in pre-sales service, which I thought was great.
What’s it like to work at Valtech?
Coming from the public sector, I was a little scared at first. I had a somewhat negative impression of the private sector, and I was afraid it would be a “body shop.” After 10 days at Valtech, I realized that people help each other a lot and that treating us like numbers really isn’t the company’s style.
What do you like most about working at Valtech?
Beside the technically interesting work, I really like the environment and the openness. The company’s knowledge level is very high. Plus, it seems normal here that when you give the best of yourself that you should expect the same thing from the company you work for.
