What is your background?

I started my career with an open-ended employment contract at a small IT service company. When the contract ended, I decided to join a larger company. I posted my resume on monster.com and was contacted by Valtech, which I’d never heard of.

What made you choose Valtech?

At most IT service companies, job interviews are conducted by sales people. At Valtech, though, I was surprised by the quality of the interviews. They were very technical and advanced. Valtech was also much larger than my previous employer but still had the mindset of a small company.

How did things go when you first joined Valtech?

I had an opportunity to take on an assignment at the Valtech offices at La Défense, which allowed me to meet a lot of people and easily become part of the staff. I also signed up for the Meribel ski weekend, because my co-workers say it’s always a lot of fun.

I also really appreciated the half-day orientation session, which gave me a great overview of how the company works, which is very useful in the beginning.

What do you like best about Valtech?

I find Valtech’s staff training very appealing. The training department is a real plus for me. Since I arrived, I’ve had the opportunity to supervise a group of students from Supelec (a prestigious institute of electric energy and information sciences), which I really enjoyed.

How did your first day go?

To tell you the truth, I was a bit lost. On that day, the person who had hired me was a new dad on paternity leave, but in the afternoon a consultant took care of me and got me involved in a Framework architecture project for the water agency. It’s very technically interesting. The project uses Java and J2EE, and I was able to delve into tools like Maven and Hibernate.

What are you currently working on at Valtech?

I’m working for Club Med to help them migrate their applications to a more innovative architecture. I’m working with the project manager and a Valtech consultant in charge of the architecture and responsible for the Valtech technical framework.

I’ve also had the opportunity to work on Valtech Cockpit. I really like being able to contribute to the company’s solutions in addition to working at the client’s office.

What are your plans for the future?

It’s still a bit early, but the idea of further training interests me, and the fact that Valtech has a branch in Toulouse looks appealing for my future.
