Joy of Giving

An educational endeavour, wherein we, truly uncovered 'The Joy of Giving'

We all for sure have experienced the joy of giving at some point in our lives, and we know how it feels in terms of the satisfaction we ultimately derive from such social services we do. However, we at Valtech India did not want to limit this to an individual, instead decided to make it a corporate affair of addressing the social needs around us.

At the time when we had this thought running through our minds, it was also notified or rather mandated by The Ministry of Corporate Affairs through Section 135 and Schedule VII of the Companies Act 2013 that, with effect from April 1, 2014, any company with net worth of Rs. 500 crore or a turnover of Rs. 1,000 crore or net profit of Rs. 5 crores, must spend at least 2% of its average net profit for the preceding three financial years on corporate social responsibility activities.

In light of the above, we appointed a 3-member CSR Committee (naming it JOG after 'Joy of Giving') comprising of two directors Mrs. Sujatha Balakrishnan, Mr. Amit Sheth and an independent Chairperson, Mr. Prakash Achar to run CSR as a focused initiative for the Company. On inception, the committee framed a guideline for the intended key initiatives in accordance with the Schedule 7 of the Act.

With the passion of serving the society judiciously in mind, we decided to start offering our services in the area of 'Life Transformation' to the community around us. The focus was to do some notable services around the community of blind children, old and destitute people, hospitals and slum-dwelling children.

When we learnt about the Government's "Golden Hour Initiative" to serve those requiring the last hour trauma care, we decided to gift a Cardiac Ambulance to Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research as a small contribution to support this noble cause.

On 3rd June 2016, Ms. Sujatha Balakrishnan handed over the vehicle to Dr. Manjunath, the director of SJICSR by holding a special event at the company premises.

The above initiative undertaken by us had been a poignantly an educational endeavour, wherein we as a team, well and truly uncovered 'The Joy of Giving'!
