"Experience Valtech" is our series spotlighting the incredible people who bring experience innovation to life.

Early beginnings: Entrepreneur by nature

From an early age, Casper Rasmussen embraced technology as a second nature. "I'm born in a digital era, in the 1990s. And I think that creates a digital native breed, right?". Entirely self-taught, Casper began exploring engineering as a teenager, diving into community forums and experimenting with code. “I’m very curious and I got into engineering and architecture by trying out.”

That curiosity quickly turned into real-world results. As a teenager, he co-founded a product company in Denmark with his brother. Soon after, Casper helped launch successful e-commerce solutions for a telecom company — a hands-on start to what would become a future in experience innovation.

"You need to meet and run with the right people. I think that’s what gets you going."

Eventually, he decided it was time to back up his real-world experience with formal education.

"If I really want to do this, I need to make sure I get a piece of paper with a stamp on it."

A 15-year journey with Valtech

That degree in computer science eventually led him to an internship at Valtech. The first assignment was to build a new internal booking system.

From there, the growth was fast and immersive. He went from developer to lead, architect, pre-sales contributor, and eventually relocated to New York where he helped establish Valtech’s Optimizely practice in the Americas and supported clients like EY and D’Addario.

By 2020, he was tapped to lead Valtech’s work in composable architecture, a modern, flexible approach to building digital platforms, and represent the company in the MACH Alliance, a global industry body promoting this shift. “A match made in heaven!”, he recalls.

Since then, he has overseen the growth of Valtech’s composable business from €1.5 million to over €60 million globally. Today, as Chief Transformation Officer, his mission is to ensure Valtech seizes the AI opportunity just as it did with composable architecture.

And what has kept him at Valtech for over a decade is more than just career growth, it’s culture.

"Valtech has been really good at nurturing my talent and challenging my comfort zone. People here are willing to make bets, even when someone doesn't have the CV to prove they are ready."

A client guy at heart

Casper thrives in client-facing roles, where each day brings a fresh challenge. He values the unpredictability and the personal connection that comes with working closely with clients.

Of the 50+ transformations he’s led, one project stands out: Dolby. "I love the client. I love the mission and vision, and I love the creativity. We did so much great, experimental work around mobile, omni-channel personalization, around TVs and Adobe Vision demo experiences."

"We were breaking the standard way of thinking, challenging the status quo. Dolby let us do that even when the textbook said it wasn’t possible."

Facing the future: Global disruption and AI

While AI brings excitement, the state of the world requires caution. "The geopolitical tensions are challenging globalization. And I think that's the biggest fear I have."

Casper explains that for decades, the global economy has relied on open trade and innovation through collaboration. "But the tribe mindset is re-emerging. That shift toward fragmented regulations is throwing a wrench into how businesses have traditionally structured operations. This introduces a level of uncertainty that’s hard to predict.”

But naturally, he sees AI as an opportunity:

"AI is more than just a new tool. It pushes us to rethink our business models, how we work, the people we need, and even how we generate revenue."

For Casper, succeeding with AI isn't about having all the answers. It's about having the right mindset. "I think it’s about being innovative, staying focused on impact, and being willing to rethink how we approach enterprise architecture and IT management.”

AI is also transforming client expectations and the definition of customer experience. "The idea of customer experience is being redefined and that’s what makes it exciting. Expectations are shifting rapidly, and companies need to adapt just as fast."

Work and life, side by side: Inside the working parents & caregivers community at Valtech

Along with his role as Chief Transformation Officer, Casper recently became the champion of Valtech’s Working Parents & Caregivers Community Group.

"The traditional boundaries between work and private life are dissolving. It is completely blended, at least for many of us. When are you a good partner? When are you a good parent, a good colleague? It’s all intermixed. Being a working parent can feel like living through an identity crisis on a daily basis."

Casper believes that openly acknowledging this blend is essential to creating a healthier, more inclusive work culture - one where personal identities are respected as much as professional roles. For Casper, recognizing and accepting the day-to-day realities of working parents isn’t a weakness, rather it’s a foundation for a more empathetic, humane workplace.

"Sometimes just knowing it's okay to talk about family life at work makes a big difference. We all juggle responsibilities and acknowledging that helps us show up for each other in more meaningful ways."

Work-life balance, reinvented

Casper’s passion for technology doesn’t end when the workday does. With his professional and personal interests overlapping, he admits that tech can easily spill into more hours than intended.

To disconnect, he turns to analog hobbies like mountain biking and gardening.

"It’s analog, no screens, no meetings - just you and the outdoors."

These aren’t just solo escapes. They're moments he often shares with his children. It’s family time, unplugged.

And when it comes to switching roles, he’s intentional about creating space between them. "I need a transition. I need a ritual that gets me there. The worst thing I can do is to start to work as I'm in Dad mode or vice versa, because then I’d have my two roles mixed. And then I won't be a good colleague, nor will I be a good dad."

Looking ahead: Learning to walk again

For Casper, the road ahead is about reinvention.

"We as a company need to learn how to walk again. Because we're being challenged and we need to reinvent even the most basic habits and behaviors."

He sees this moment as a turning point not just for Valtech, but for the industry and the people shaping it.

If he can help ease that transition? "Then I'm a very happy guy!"

He’s committed to guiding with clarity, resilience, and optimism because he believes collective adaptability is what will define the next chapter of Valtech’s story.
