Before discovering her passion for software development, Vasilija originally planned to study nuclear physics. Today, she channels that same curiosity and analytical mindset into solving complex technical challenges.
Leading with collaboration
As a Director of Technology within the DXP team, Vasilija’s role sits at the intersection of development, architecture and leadership. She works hands-on with Adobe Experience Manager, contributes to technical implementations and helps guide the teams through complex challenges.
Despite being in a leadership role, staying connected with the technical work is very important to her.
People sometimes assume that because I’m in leadership, I no longer want to be involved in development. But I’m still very hands on — contributing to developmental tasks, reviewing solutions and helping the team.
This balance allows her to support her team effectively while staying deeply engaged in the technology itself.
But first, coffee
Like for many of us, Vasilija’s routine starts with something essential.
“The first thing I do is put my coffee on the table and take a few minutes to settle in,” she says. “I usually start by checking my messages and reviewing what’s on the agenda for the day.”
She then reviews project boards, checks priorities and looks for any blockers where she can support the team. This quick overview helps her start the day with clarity and direction. “It gives me a clear picture of the priorities and helps me stay focused and organized.”
A blend of development, mentoring and collaboration
Vasilija’s workday is a balance between hands-on development and supporting the team around her. She spends time reviewing code, contributing to Adobe Experience Manager solutions and participating in architecture discussions, while also helping guide projects and mentoring colleagues.
Beyond project work, she is actively involved in a broader tech community, from participating in technical interviews to organizing tech talks and contributing to initiatives like Valtech’s Tech_Girl program. Regular one-on-one sessions with team members are also an important part of her routine, helping support the team’s development and knowledge-sharing.
