Valtech wins Gold and Silver at Spinn Awards for “Condom Call” campaign

Valtech RADON, the creative studio of the experience innovation company Valtech, today announced that its work with the Swedish Association for Sexuality Education (RFSU) has earned Gold in the Public Service Information category and Silver in the Influencer category at the Spinn Awards, Sweden’s premier PR competition recognizing campaigns that deliver measurable impact. The awards honor Condom Call, a bold, insight-driven campaign that reimagines how sexual health messaging can drive action, by putting the power of influence directly into the hands of peers at the moment it matters most.

Turning human insight into measurable impact

Condom Call tackled a persistent challenge in sexual health: closing the gap between intention and action. Valtech identified a critical behavioral insight: while most young people intend to use protection, many fail in the moment due to forgetfulness or lack of preparation. Instead of focusing on awareness, the campaign intervened at the tipping point where intention turns into action. Building on this insight, the team created a platform that enables friends to send timely, humorous reminders via SMS and social channels, transforming condom use from an individual responsibility into a shared, social behavior. The campaign combined strategic thinking, creativity and technology to deliver messages from influencers alongside unexpected “voices” such as a sex educator, “your brain” and even chlamydia, cutting through stigma with humor and immediacy.

“The insight was simple: It was never an awareness problem. It was a timing problem,” said David DeCheser, Global Chief Creative Officer at Valtech. “So, we stopped trying to reach them on the couch and started reaching them on the way out the door — through the one voice they'd actually listen to. Their friends."

Built to engage, designed to spread

By meeting young audiences in the channels and formats they already use, Valtech transformed traditional public health messaging into an interactive, peer-driven experience. The campaign was designed for shareability at its core — turning recipients into participants and amplifiers. Paid social and influencer content directed users to the platform, where they could select and send Condom Calls, sparking a self-sustaining chain reaction of peer-to-peer engagement.

The results demonstrate both scale and impact: over 80,000 Condom Calls shared, 48% of recipients visited the platform, 45% of users continued the chain by sharing onward, and more than 7 million earned media reach across Nordic markets. Most importantly, the campaign delivered measurable behavior change, with condom use increasing across all key markets, reversing a declining trend among 16- to 20-year-olds. Intent to use condoms also rose significantly, alongside increases in actual usage at last sex with a new partner.
