Valtech to Release a Unique Augmented Reality Experience, in Partnership with Agropur

Imagine a line of fine cheeses made specifically for those who aren’t familiar with all their nuances. Communicating with flavour-curious newbies is exactly what Agropur intends to do with its new brand, Monsieur Gustav. As a partner in this pan-Canadian launch, Valtech developed a simple, fun and innovative experience that uses augmented reality to share information with lovers of fine cheese.

It was a considerable challenge. How do you make a fine cheese brand modern, relevant and easy to understand for new shoppers? You give them an experience! Valtech and Agropur crafted a unique augmented reality experience to open up the world of fine cheeses.  

Using their smartphones and camera app, cheese lovers can scan a QR code on the packaging while in-store or back at home. Image recognition technology then takes them on a unique brand experience where they interact with the product and explore dynamic augmented-reality content and relevant product information.

“We wanted to go beyond the classic wine and cheese pairing,” said Agropur’s Marketing Director of Fine Cheeses, Hubert Théorêt, “and bring fine cheeses to a wider audience. Our practical tips include ideas for combinations at any time of day, how to serve cheeses, as well as useful and trending suggestions. We are launching a bold, digital brand that speaks directly to Millennials—a first in this category!”

About the new brand 

Monsieur Gustav has only one goal: to make fine cheeses known and accessible to as many people as possible. Monsieur Gustav is the new matchmaker in Canada’s delicious world of fine cheeses. This friendly and trustworthy expert has a thorough knowledge of cheese. He advises and guides Canadians who are not yet connoisseurs and who may be intimidated by the wide variety of fine cheeses.
