The role
Valtech is looking to hire a Data Engineer to join our cross-functional commerce enablement team. This person will partner closely with client teams to unlock value from operational, behavioral, and infrastructure data. Role responsibilities:
- Designing, Migrating, Building, and Testing large-scale data processing architectures .
- Building enterprise pipelines on the cloud using technologies such as Python, SQL and Spark in Azure Databricks
- Helping clients implement ways to improve data reliability, efficiency, and quality, all while building intelligent solutions that leverage data
- Performing ad-hoc analyses of data stored in the business’s Lakehouse.
- Interfacing with clients and providing technical recommendations
- Working with experienced data engineers, data scientists, data analysts and business people to foster your experience and growth
Must have qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following essential qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience working in a data engineer, data analyst, product analyst, or related role.
- Strong experience developing code in Python and Spark to query and transform large-scale datasets.
- Proficient in SQL, with experience querying large or semi-structured datasets (e.g., logs, JSON exports).
- Familiarity in at least one major cloud platform (GCP, Azure, or AWS), designing, deploying, and managing pipelines.
- Strong experience working with code collaboration tools like Git..
- Experience collecting data from different data sources and APIs.
- Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong coding, documentation and presentation skills
- Proficient in English skills both spoken and written.
Nice to have qualifications
- Experience working with big data tools like Databricks, Google BigQuery, Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, or Elasticsearch
- Experience working with Clickstream data from a web analytics tool like Adobe or Google.
- Experience dealing with computing cluster configurations to enhance performance and avoid excess of costs.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or Kibana.
- Experience integrating and testing with RESTful APIs.
- Experience interpreting low level data like system logs, error trends, or deployment metrics.
- Experience in Machine Learning
- Strong passion for building innovative and intelligent solutions around data
- Proven ability to technically lead other team members and support them while driving towards a solution.
- Proven ability to effectively communicate technical topics to product owners, stakeholders and other business team members
- Experience working in an Agile Scrum development environment, or in a consulting capacity
- Data-plaforms related Certifications like Databricks, Google (Professional Data Engineer) or Microsoft (Azure Data Engineer Associate, Azure AI Engineer Associate)
