The role

Please note that we are only accepting applicants from Ontario and Québec for this role. For Québec-based candidates, fluency in English is necessary because the position entails collaboration with teams based in the rest of Americas and occasionally in Europe.

As a Product Owner at Valtech, you play a critical role in shaping and delivering digital commerce solutions that drive measurable business outcomes for our clients. You are the bridge between business stakeholders, users, and delivery teams, ensuring product requirements are clearly defined, prioritized, and executed effectively.

You bring strong product ownership experience, a customer-centric mindset, and a passion for Agile delivery. You thrive in complex commerce environments, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to transform business needs into impactful digital experiences. You are comfortable working in fast-paced consulting engagements and balancing strategic goals with day-to-day delivery responsibilities.
You bring +7 years of Product Ownership experience and a proven ability to drive successful product outcomes within Agile teams.

Role responsibilities

  • Own and manage the product backlog, ensuring work is prioritized based on business value, customer needs, and delivery objectives.
  • Collaborate with client stakeholders to gather, refine, and document business requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Act as the primary liaison between business and delivery teams, ensuring alignment on priorities, scope, and expected outcomes.
  • Facilitate backlog refinement, sprint planning, reviews, and other Agile ceremonies to ensure delivery teams are set up for success.
  • Translate complex business challenges into clear product requirements that can be effectively designed, developed, and tested.
  • Partner closely with UX, engineering, QA, and business stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Support product roadmap development by identifying opportunities, dependencies, risks, and business priorities.
  • Monitor product performance, customer feedback, and business metrics to inform product decisions and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Drive stakeholder alignment and proactively manage competing priorities in dynamic environments.
  • Identify and escalate risks, dependencies, and blockers to ensure successful delivery.
  • Contribute to a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and product excellence across client engagements.

Must-have qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following essential qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience working as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or Product Management professional within Agile environments.
  • Proven experience delivering digital commerce and eCommerce solutions.
  • Strong understanding of Agile delivery methodologies, including Scrum and backlog management best practices.
  • Experience defining user stories, acceptance criteria, product requirements, and prioritization frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, UX, QA, and business stakeholders.
  • Experience managing stakeholder expectations and balancing multiple priorities within complex delivery environments.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to translate business needs into actionable development requirements.
  • Experience working on B2B commerce projects, including complex customer journeys, purchasing processes, pricing models, and account structures.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-informed approach to decision-making.
  • Experience collaborating directly with clients in a consulting, agency, or professional services environment.
  • Familiarity with modern product management and collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to independently manage priorities while maintaining alignment with broader business and product objectives.

Nice-to-have qualifications

  • Experience with Optimizely Configured Commerce.
  • Experience with Inriver PIM (Product Information Management).
  • Experience delivering enterprise B2B commerce platforms and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Knowledge of product catalog, pricing, inventory, and order management processes within commerce ecosystems.
  • Experience within the HVAC industry or related manufacturing, industrial, or distribution sectors.
  • French language proficiency, including both conversational and written communication skills.

The benefits  

This is a contractor position of 2-3 months based in Canada. The offered hourly salary range is 50-60CAD, depending on experience and location.
