Scrum Master

The position is for our German-based client Volkswagen Group (CARIAD), offering global carmakers a full spectrum of connected vehicle platforms and mobility services. Successful candidates will be expected to work in an international environment and spend a few weeks in Germany.

You’ll be a member of the international connected car team. We are proud of what we have created in the domain of connected cars, managing more than 25+ Million vehicles on our platform and providing more than 50+ various connected car services (infotainment, telematics, V2X/Car2x). The connected vehicle platform is provided on-premises and as a cloud solution on AZURE. We also support your development through our internal portal called the Academy. We are looking for a seasoned Scrum Master with at least 5+ years of experience in the software industry, international projects and a minimum of 3+ years of working in a DevOps environment.

You will be working as part of a cross-functional team that takes responsibility for their applications throughout the full lifecycle. The team is currently working with a focus on design and development and will expand its focus to operational and automation aspects. We would like you to bring in your DevOps knowledge and experience to contribute to delivering excellency by the connected car team.

 

Mandatory mindset, skillset and experience

As a Scrum Master, you serve as the guiding force for the development team, enabling seamless collaboration, removing obstacles, and ensuring agile principles are consistently applied to deliver value efficiently.

  • Facilitate Scrum Ceremonies
    • Daily stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
    • Ensure meetings are focused, time-boxed, and outcome-driven.
    • Sprint Planning & Backlog Grooming
  • Support the Product Owner in maintaining a prioritized backlog.
  • Help the team estimate and commit to realistic sprint goals.
  • Remove Impediments
  • Actively identify and resolve blockers that hinder team progress.
  • Escalate issues when necessary (e.g., infrastructure delays, access issues).
  • Coach Agile Principles
  • Promote agile values and continuous improvement.
  • Guide the team in adopting agile best practices tailored to DevOps.
  • You work in close collaboration with the stakeholders to maintain transparency on project progress and ensure alignment of goals and expectations across all parties.
  • Applicants should demonstrate a strong sense of ownership, taking responsibility for their work from design through implementation and into operations.
  • Prior experience working in agile teams is essential, ideally with methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, or similar frameworks.
  • A collaborative mindset is key—candidates must be willing to work closely with team members, sharing responsibility, workload, and recognition.
  • A genuine interest in understanding the functional domain of the applications being developed is expected, along with a commitment to building subject matter expertise.
  • Strong communication skills, a good command of English, and the ability to work effectively in a globally distributed team are required.

 

Ideal candidates should also have

  • Experience with software development experience
  • Experience working in agile environments (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, etc.).
  • Strong stakeholder management skills — able to align diverse interests and communicate effectively.
  • Familiarity with backlog grooming, user story writing, and acceptance criteria definition.
  • Willingness to work closely with developers, designers, testers, and other roles.
  • Ability to share responsibility and credit, fostering a collaborative team culture.
  • Comfortable facilitating daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and reviews.
  • Eagerness to understand the business domain and become a subject matter expert.
  • Ability to translate complex business needs into clear, actionable requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Experience working in distributed or cross-cultural teams is a must.
