A few days ago, Audi presented its new “Audi City” retail format in London – and Valtech’s technology is also along for the ride. Commissioned by Audi AG, Valtech Deutschland, the full service provider for digital marketing, digital sales and enterprise IT, built the central middleware for this major project without which the networking of the digital features in the showroom of the future would not be have been made possible.

Thanks to its ground-breaking media technology, the vehicle manufacturer now has the ability not only to present its growing model line-up – including all colours, equipment options and functions – in its entirety, but also to offer customers the chance to experience the sheer breadth of the range. Visitors can digitally select their vehicle from several hundred million possible configurations and experience it in realistic 1:1 scale on screens that almost fill the entire space. Moreover, technical details such as the drivetrain, bodyshell or LED light technology can be visually displayed in order to make innovations understandable and intuitive.

Valtech’s software developments are the basis for this seamless and robust interaction of numerous components, including iPad apps, multitouch tables and configurators. In this project, Valtech has worked in close cooperation with many other participating partner companies. The platform, developed using modern agile methodology, is the central software system controlling all visual systems and the acoustics. In addition, thanks to Valtech’s expertise, customer and dealer requests are securely transmitted to Audi’s internal IT systems (e.g. CRM). Some of the content management as well as the RFID devices and the creation of personalised brochures were also implemented by Valtech.

We are glad to be playing a crucial role in this demanding project. For us the cyberstore is a prime example of the link between the online world and retail as well as a successful agile approach to IT,” says Ingo Kriescher, Managing Director of Valtech Deutschland.

Over the next few years Audi will secure more of these urban locations, opening more than 20 Audi stores worldwide by 2015. And Valtech will be endeavouring to contribute its IT expertise to this end.
