Money20/20: What we learned in Amsterdam

Leveraging Agentic AI for Next-Gen Digital Experiences

Date: June 04, 2025

Valtech joined the world’s leading fintech voices at Money20/20 Europe in Amsterdam, where the conversations were bold, the innovations sharp and the future of finance unmistakably agentic.

Our take: Highlights from Money20/20

While the discussions covered a wide range of topics, a few key themes stood out, highlighting how technology is reshaping financial services. From payments and security to AI and regulation, Money20/20 showcased both the challenges and opportunities ahead.

Payments, security and financial crime prevention

Technology is fast-tracking legacy modernization. Seamless payments and AI-powered fraud prevention are creating new standards in security and experience. Fintechs are outpacing traditional institutions but also enabling them to evolve through orchestration and integration.

Identity and embedded finance

Biometric and blockchain-based identity verification are reshaping onboarding and KYC. With central banks exploring CBDCs, embedded finance is emerging as a shared frontier for public and private innovation.

Financial inclusion

Fintechs are now measuring inclusion by impact, not just reach. Solutions like microloans and low-cost insurance are being reframed as long-term trust builders.

Two speakers sit facing each other on a lush, plant-filled stage dotted with pink hydrangeas and glowing circular “Money 20/20” logos. The speaker on the left wears a dark suit and glasses with hands clasped, while the speaker on the right, in a light shirt, holds notes. Audience members watch from the foreground beneath low video monitors.

AI and agentic workflows

Despite limited focus on enterprise AI at Money20/20, the potential is enormous. Agentic systems offer the intelligence incumbents need to modernize operations, improve compliance and scale with agility.

Incumbents and fintechs are collaborating to compete

From acquisitions to internal VC arms, major banks are embracing fintechs to unlock innovation. This dual strategy is proving essential to future-proofing and staying relevant in a digital-first world.

Institutional crypto and stablecoins

While retail crypto remains volatile, stablecoins are quietly reshaping institutional finance in custody, settlement and compliance. Efficiency, traceability and low friction are driving momentum.

Five conference-goers stand side by side, smiling, with arms around each other in front of a vibrant, purple-lit backdrop made of intersecting light bars and a circular sign that reads “CREATE THE FUTURE.” All wear event lanyards; the two on the ends wear light-colored jackets, while the three in the middle wear collared shirts and sweaters.

Breakfast with a view: Agentic AI on the water

Before the second day, we hosted a breakfast cruise with Stathis Onasoglou, Senior Principal Architect at Google, to explore how agentic AI is redefining digital financial experiences. We discussed:

  • How autonomous AI agents enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Replacing generic products with hyper-personalized services.
  • Real-time adaptability across digital channels.
  • The role of agentic systems in streamlining ops and scaling growth.
