#ValtechVoices: Meet Americo Congo

To kickoff this new Q&A series, we are highlighting Marketing Executive Americo Congo. Learn about his vision for the digital future, his day-to-day work life and his love of vitamin C!

Q: What are your current day-to-day responsibilities?

A: I'm in charge of the digital side of our marketing here in the UK. That means I'm accountable for all of Valtech UK's social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, etc) as well as maintaining our website and company blog. Recently, I've also become more active in terms of producing video content for our office by personally shooting and editing our videos. It's still early on, but watch out Netherlands, we're coming for ya!

Q: Where do you see your industry headed in the next five years?

A: A generally new and groundbreaking technology for marketing that has appeared recently is block-chain technologies, but it isn't clear how this will evolve. Artificial Intelligence has also been a hot topic of late. Combining AI with content personalisation offers some incredible opportunities for marketers, and this is something those with the capabilities to experiment with should definitely be looking at.

Q: What tool or utility helps you do your job more efficiently?

A: Spotify!

Q: What is the most interesting thing about your job?

A: The most interesting thing about my job is that the MOST interesting thing is never the same. Whether I’m planning a large event, working on branded collateral, or working on video content, my days are really varied and as they say, “variety is the spice of life” (although never known who “they” is).

Q: If you could do anything different now career wise, what would you do? Why?

A: Professional Time Travelling Superhero.

Q: What is the last book you read?

A: I've just finished rereading Ancillary Mercy by Ann Leckie and have started rereading Ready Player One by Ernest Cline.

Q: Favorite drink of choice?

A: Orange Juice - love that vitamin C.

Q: Did you have a nickname? How’d you get it?

A: I don't actually have a nickname but technically you could say 'America' is my nickname. Why? Because of autocorrect. The sheer volume of emails and messages I get to America is ridiculous.

Q: What kind of car do you drive?

A: I live in London - I use the Tube.

Q: If you could choose one superpower, what would it be and why?

A: Well here is a question I've actually given a lot of thought on. My answer is electromagnetism. It's the power that is all powers - you want invisibility? You want flight? You want mind control? You want to move objects? BAM. You got it!
