Consultant - Diversity & Inclusion (India & APAC)

Valtech is a digital agency that employs over 3000 people in 16 countries worldwide. Even though we operate in many places and represent a multitude of unique cultures - we are, in some respects, challenged by a lack of diverse representation in our ranks.

The work we do at Valtech is quite strategic. Digital technology and business strategy are now deeply interwoven across a multitude of industries. We advise clients around the world on matters that are fundamental to their operations. We design websites, applications, and environments that are experienced by millions of people around the world. We have built an exceptional reputation in this area – but we are aware that the relative homogeneity of our team could introduce unconscious biases and blind spots in our work.

Building a diverse team and inclusive culture at Valtech

To embrace inclusive design, we must build an inclusive and diverse team.

Beyond that, we are a company that lives and breathes innovation. We believe – and there’s plenty of research to back this up – that diverse teams challenge each other to think more innovatively. By making our teams more diverse, we’ll do better work… serve our clients better.

Lastly, we’re committed to make Valtech a great place to work for all. It’s sometimes said that “you can’t be what you can’t see.” By better embedding women and people of color in our leadership ranks and communities, we believe that we’ll shape a more engaging and inspiring environment for underrepresented members of our team.

Operating Context Valtech’s diversity and inclusion challenges are not unique. In fact, they are endemic across the tech sector. Some say that the problem is upstream. For example, only a few women gravitate to computer science degrees. The battle for any digital talent is extremely competitive and the available pool of highly qualified women is considerably smaller. On the other hand, we would require a more diverse workforce which includes different color, gender, region, culture, differently-abled and LGBT.
