The Financial Controller Role:

This is both an operational and strategic role with responsibility for leading the finance team and finance processes as Valtech

Reporting to the Finance Director you will work collaboratively to gather and develop financial information to drive operational improvements and support the management team to make informed decisions.

You will maintain and improve the internal financial processes, policies and procedures within the organisation and ensure controls are in place to ensure compliance standards are met.

You will hold primary responsibility for ensuring accuracy of transactional data and providing analysis and recommendations based on financial data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the finance team and all routine financial accounting processes, overseeing AR, AP and management accounting staff.
  • Preparation of the monthly financial results including all balance sheet reconciliations, P&L timely completion, cash flow analysis and variance reporting.
  • Oversee all financial systems and control processes ensuring a robust financial control environment aligned to statutory and group requirements.
  • Lead the monthly submission to group and all associated group reporting requirements.
  • Review monthly employee payroll and book in ledgers after liaising with HR and management in regards monthly payroll amendments.
  • Management of the monthly intercompany invoicing and reporting, dealing with various requests from overseas offices.
  • Manage all Tax and VAT submissions.
  • Developing and managing monthly management reporting process.
  • Liaising with various departments within the organisation to ensure data is consistent and correct before they are released to management team.
  • Preparation of the annual statutory accounts for Valtech Limited including all financial notes in line with both UK Gaap, IFRS and any other regulatory compliance requirements
  • Providing core support for Audit Process at year end and liaising with auditors for any information requests.
  • Assisting Finance and Operations Director with the preparation of both the Annual Budget and quarterly financial forecasts for Valtech Limited, working with relevant departments to ensure requirements are factored as part of process. Always ensuring budgets are prepared in line with the business plan set out by the management team and Valtech group expectations.
  • Support finance team members develop their skills and expertise.
  • Identify areas for improvement within existing financial processes to drive efficiencies and provide improved quality data to the business.
  • Partner with all departments on a daily and ad hoc basis and providing front facing finance point of contact within the business
  • Support the UK business and group teams with other ad hoc finance related projects.

The Person:

You will be a highly experienced and qualified Financial Controller with extensive experience delivering results in a fast paced, high growth and dynamic business. Passionate about quality you will have experience in both delivery and process improvement, with an incisive eye for business bottlenecks and system improvement.

As a leader you will know how to motivate a team creating a healthy, cohesive focus on delivering business outcomes. You will need to lead the team but also be hands on in your approach, not being afraid to roll up your sleeves and get into the detail when required.

You will have a proven background of taking responsibility for governance, reporting and controls with the capability to juggle priorities and adapt to the changing environment of a growing business with a developing finance team.

Specialist Knowledge, Experience & Qualifications:

  • You will be ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified
  • You will have knowledge of Oracle Fusion
  • You will have relevant finance experience working as part of an international group business
  • You will have demonstrable experience and success in streamlining and improving finance processes
  • You will have previous experience in implementing strong internal control frameworks and ensuring incorporation of these controls in the wider business
  • You will have previous experience in leading the process for external audits
  • Previous experience working in a professional service / agency business would be preferred but not essential.
