Wanted: A Senior Executive to lead Valtech’s new and unique combination of Transformation Consultancy and Experience Design
Valtech has been working in the trenches of digital innovation for more than two decades now. We are a market leader in Experience Design creation and development, and continuously ranked at the very top in our industry. We combine design thinking, technology development, marketing crafts and strategy in all stages of the business lifecycle with unique services delivered by multi-disciplinary and agile teams. So far, we have practiced Transformation by Doing.
Now, the next wave of transformation is upon us. While companies are looking to unlock the next level of economic value, we are moving from a focus on Products for the masses to Services and Experiences for the People. Differentiation in this new market will come from companies able to create, orchestrate and perpetually improve personal services and experiences for their customers across all channels and touchpoints.
Setting the direction for the Economy of Experiences
We label this change towards a consumer-centric economy “the Economy of Experience”. We believe, it will bring unprecedented disturbance and opportunity to companies as they look to catch-up, re-conquer or re-invent themselves.
We are now looking for a Senior Executive profile as our new Strategy Director. A person who shares that vision and ambition and who is eager to operate and collaborate globally when needed. Someone who can significantly grow our existing business to also embrace the potential in this monumental shift and think of ways to combine Transformation Consultancy with Experience Design to close the “Experience Gap” between the now and the tomorrow.
At Valtech, we like to consider our agency as a refuge for scores of digital natives fleeing from traditional work environments. We believe that having a job where you have to wear many hats makes you creative and accelerates personal and professional growth. We believe versatility is the key to success. If you share that conviction, then we might have a prominent role within the Valtech Leadership Team for you.
The right candidate should be a Managing Director in the making. This level of leadership experience does not need to be present in your profile, but the potential should be evident in your experience and competences. We are looking for someone to significantly grow our services portfolio and market share in Denmark and internationally. This requires an executive-level ability to identify clients in need to have their business, and that of ours, to grow hand-in-hand.
So, we’re looking for a Strategy Director who is fueled by results, shares our can-do, get-it-done attitude and thrive in the space between selling, leading and delivering digital solutions. While it’s true that in this position you’ll be a crucial part of our pitch- and business development efforts, you’ll also get the chance to do so much more.
What you will be doing
- Define, build and deliver within Valtech’s ‘Transformation Consultancy meets Experience Design’ practice together with international peers
- Be actively involved in sales, pitches and account management
- Be responsible for managing client relations, project planning and execution
- Develop, grow and lead team(s) of digital strategists, creatives and technologists to success
- Help drive the development of Valtech on a strategic and cultural level
What you won’t be doing
- Sitting behind a desk
- Leaving the business development and strategy consulting to someone else
Where you’ve been
We’re looking for someone who’s learned a lot by doing. You’re not a textbook anything. The only way you learn is by rolling up your sleeves and digging in to whatever assignment you’re given. More specifically, you’ve probably worked in a management consultancy, in business development of a strategic design agency or in a prominent sales role for a major next-gen digital agency. You have an international point of view and may even be returning to Denmark after a stint abroad.
You’re used to managing others, but not micro-managing. We trust each other, so we don’t feel the need to look over each other’s shoulder to see if we’re doing our jobs. We operate with a people-centric philosophy. The most important thing is the person in front of you, not the position you have to fill. The way you bring the greatest benefit to Valtech is by being able to identify the potential you have in each employee and creating a position that magnifies that potential.
We’re international and local…
We mainly work on large-scale digital transformation projects, which we are doing for some of the greatest brands in Denmark, such as Grundfos, Novo Nordisk, Coloplast, Telia, Trygfonden, Milestones and globally for AUDI, BMW, L’Oréal, Samsung, Heineken, Rolex and Chanel.
The transformations are realized by a magic mix of nationalities, skillsets and characters. We have 30 different nationalities in our offices in Aarhus and Copenhagen from equally many different fields of expertises who work seamlessly across offices and continents.
Our diversity and dedication also make our Danish offices feel like a buzzing micro-cosmos, while at the same time embracing that Danish feeling of hygge. Of homeliness, coffee and a Danish pastry. There is a reason why we refer to working from the office as ‘working from the house’. Our historical buildings feel like home for ourselves and our clients alike. We are famous for our hospitality: hosting workshops, opening up for network meetings or facilitating inspiration sessions. Our doors are always open.
We’re about transforming the way businesses work through digital enablement. Because there is no one-size-fits-all solution to this, our approach is establishing close collaboration and long-lasting partnerships. We can use on-site teams, war rooms or a hybrid team approach depending on what makes sense for our clients.
We’re not saying that we want to be all religious about being agile, but we do feel that the principles behind it offer us the opportunity to integrate feedback loops and adapt along the way. We also feel attached to our fluid organizational structure: our teams are cross-functional and our projects interdisciplinary. This means that our clients always get access to the right person for the job.
We're renowned for our can-do, get-it-done culture. No organizational barriers, but instead a dedication to provide the right people, for the right job, delivering the best solution at the right time.
Over 140 of our people call the historic canon boat houses in the center of Copenhagen their professional home. The building may be 200 years old, but we think it’s still an excellent fit. Have you ever seen a boat in need of squared office space with closed doors? Neither have we. And did we mention that from wherever you’re sitting, you have a view over the water?
The second largest city in Denmark ranks absolutely first in charm. Not just the city, but the Valtech office space we call home here. Located in a former train workshop, our Aarhus office is home to another 20+ digital masterminds who largely work for clients on the ‘Jyske’ side of the country.
Globally, Valtech is home to 2800 digital specialists working from 40 offices in 16 countries.
