Get to Know Zeppelin
The Zeppelin Group offers solutions in the areas of construction and agricultural machines, rental, construction logistics, drives and propulsion, energy, and general and plant engineering through six strategic business units in a management holding company. In 2018, Zeppelin generated sales of 2.9 billion euros and employs over 8,000 people in 34 countries.
Zeppelin has been supporting Caterpillar Inc. as its largest sales and service partner since 1954.
Zeppelin wanted a renewal of the website of the holding company and its divisions operating in various fields. In addition to the sale of Caterpillar construction machinery, these include, for example, plant engineering and construction. The project is part of the company-wide digital transformation process and should make the website a platform for Zeppelin's digital services in the long run. In addition, the website is to be visually updated with a redesign and optimized usability. Due to the flexibility of the platform, further separate websites are to be migrated from the Zeppelin cosmos.
Valtech supports Zeppelin in building the new platform based on Adobe AEM. For this purpose we organized in Scrum teams and developed corresponding AEM components and connect backend services. In addition, we support the automated setup of the infrastructure in the cloud in a DevOps setup. Technologies such as Terraform and Ansible were used for this purpose. Through the connection to an oxide shop system, customers today can request products and services directly, quickening all-around reaction times and customer satisfaction.
The first two business areas, plant engineering and quality assurance, have already been lifted onto the new platform. This enabled Zeppelin to build on the new systems to let other areas follow step by step. The long-term-goal: creating a single multi-purpose digital platform.
