Apprenticeship Media Designer(all genders) with focus on Conception & Design

Cologne

"Bye, Mom. Bye, Dad. I'm at Valtech now."

Are your parents complaining that you spend too much time on the computer? We think that's great—come join us and do your apprenticeship with us! When you work at Valtech, you can sit at a MacBook all day—and even get paid for it!

Why Valtech? We’re the experience innovation company - a trusted partner to the world’s most recognized brands. To our people we offer growth opportunities, a values-driven culture, international careers and the chance to shape the future of experience.

The opportunity

At Valtech, you’ll find an environment designed for continuous learning, meaningful impact, and professional growth. Whether you're pioneering new digital solutions, challenging conventional thinking or building the next generation of customer experiences, your work will help transform industries.

We are proud of:

Valtech is an agency that produces websites and apps, among other things. We work for large companies and brands like Toyota, TUI, or L'Oréal. We help them stay up-to-date with the latest digital technology and communication. The keyword is Digital Transformation—google it, it's pretty interesting (and cool).

It's often about technology, because all digital applications need to be programmed. (That's where the "tech" in Valtech comes from.) But just as important as good, functioning technology is a user interface (UI) that looks good. And a user experience (UX) that works well.

These two things—and a few more—you'll learn during your apprenticeship with us. Your certificate will say "Media Designer." But in your heart—and based on your skills—you'll be a "UX/UI Designer." That's pretty interesting (and cool).

The role

Your apprenticeship begins in summer 2025 and lasts 3 years. And one thing is certain: it will be exciting, varied, and challenging. You'll experience a lot and have plenty to do, which we call "practice-oriented." You'll gain insights into the following areas:

  • Planning and analysis: of projects and processes
  • Conception: from idea to design implementation
  • Design: creating and preparing sketches and layouts
  • This and that: visualization, image editing, retouching, typography, design coordination, content management systems
  • You'll work in one team or several on various projects, sometimes consecutively, sometimes simultaneously. (If it gets too stressful, just let us know.) You'll be involved in projects and processes from beginning to end and contribute as best you can: with your opinion, your ideas, and your creativity.

What you should bring with you:

  • You're interested in style & design, ideas & concepts, and everything "digital"
  • You've finished school, preferably with reasonably good grades
  • You are fluent in German and your English as well is good and fairly fluent—you'll regularly work with colleagues from around the world, and English is spoken a lot
  • Initial experience with Adobe, Sketch, Figma, or other graphic programs would be good—gained through your own projects, internships, or on YouTube
  • You're eager to learn new things: for example, programs, tools, or processes
  • You can concentrate well and are thorough and responsible
  • You enjoy working independently, but also collaboratively in a team
  • You're reliable, which is important because, as mentioned, you'll be working in teams

If you do not meet all the listed qualifications or have gaps in your experience, we still encourage you to apply. At Valtech, we recognize that talent comes in many forms, and we value diverse perspectives and a willingness to learn.
