The role  

You are someone with 2 to 3 years of experience as a Cloud Engineer in AWS. You communicate clearly, transparently, and proactively, so people on the project and in the Cloud team know what you’re doing. You have worked in an environment where you needed to work together with developers to get things done. You have experience with public-facing online applications and preferably with environments that need to be highly available while receiving substantial traffic. You have a cooperative attitude, a DevOps mindset, and as such you're interested in the work of others. You have respect for your colleagues and embrace diversity in all its aspects.

As an Associate Cloud Engineer (AWS), you are part of a multidisciplinary project team working with software engineers, QA engineers, front-end engineers on experience and commerce platforms. You will work with Infrastructure as Code (mostly Terraform), support teams in setting up their pipelines, help them to deploy and scale their applications, ensure security on the cloud infrastructure of our client, maintain recovery procedures etc.

You will work with one or two colleague cloud engineers on the same project, but you will also be part of the larger EU cloud team and the Global Cloud Craft Circle where you will receive coaching, training and collegial support.

 

Role responsibilities

  • Building, changing, and maintaining cloud infrastructures in AWS – compute, data, and networking – based on a given design.
  • Setting up logging, monitoring, and security.
  • Support teams to set up and maintain their own pipelines.
  • Communicate transparently and be verbose about the work you do in the project tools of your team.
  • To create and maintain the necessary documentation for your colleagues.
  • To create and maintain automation wherever it makes sense.

 

Must have qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following essential qualifications: 

  • You are assertive with good communication skills.
  • You have experience with Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform.
  • You have knowledge of the serverless services of AWS.
  • You have knowledge and/or exposure with monitoring systems, such as Datadog, Splunk, or AWS CloudWatch.
  • You have knowledge of and experience with pipelining tools, such as GitHub.
  • You have knowledge of and experience with microservices-related technology: Docker.
  • You have worked as an engineer in a DevOps context.
  • You have an excellent command of English, both written and verbal (C1 or above).
  • Are familiar with most of the following technologies:
    • ECS.
    • Lambda.
    • RDS.
    • DynamoDB.
    • CloudWatch.
    • ALB, ELB, VPC, NSG.
  • You have worked within the context of publicly accessible platforms.
  • Preferably, you have worked with highly available eCommerce and/or experience platforms.
  • You have experience working in an international context with on- and off-shore teams.
