The role
Valtech is seeking a Senior Solution Architect (Azure) to lead the design and delivery of an Enterprise Data Platform (EDP) modernization effort with an emphasis on quality and platform stability. The role is responsible for architecting and implementing large-scale data and analytics solutions with emphasis on reliability in financial data pipelines and serving reporting products. The ideal candidate has a proven track record in designing comparable systems at the enterprise scale, an emphasis on meticulous organization and championing bets practices in design and implementation. This role involves hands-on technical work and guiding engineering teams to deliver a secure, high-performance EDP modernization project that supports unified financial reporting and advanced analytics, within a medallion lakehouse architecture.

Role responsibilities
• Define and deliver an architecture and implementation of an enterprise-scale data platform on Azure to support financial reporting and analytics
• Design robust cloud data architectures using scalable and cost-conscious services across the data lakes, lakehouse/medallion design patterns that map meaningfully to business reporting needs.
• Be the design champion and technical through leader around solving for both scalability and security requirements at the design level.
• Define and enforce architectural standards, patterns, and governance best practices across data ingestion, modelling, data lineage, security, and orchestration processes. Incorporate EDP best practices
• Translate technical concepts and constraints to non-technical stakeholders
• Participate in agile ceremonies (Daily meetings, Planning Retrospective)
• Personally participate in code review process to shepherd design characteristics into successful implementations.
Must have qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following essential qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
Plus 8+ years of experience in software/data engineering, including substantial experience in designing and implementing data-oriented solutions.
At least 3–5 years of hands-on solution architecture experience with Microsoft Azure data services (e.g. Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks) in an enterprise environment.
Proficiency in core Azure data components such as Azure Synapse Analytics (Data Warehouse), Azure Data Factory (ETL/ELT pipelines), Azure Databricks (Spark/Big Data processing), Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Stream Analytics or Event Hubs (for real-time data), and related services.
Upper-intermediate English level
Nice to have qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Azure ecosystem for data and analytics, including architecture of data warehouses, data lakes, or lakehouse platforms on Azure.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric and its integration into modern data platforms.
- Data Architecture & Modelling: Strong knowledge of enterprise data architecture principles and data modelling for analytics/reporting.
- Prior experience with technical decision ownership or managing technical specifications development data, analytics, or ML projects.
- Experience working with clients or stakeholders in the Banking industry, Credit Bureaus, or financial audit environments.
- MS Certifications considered a plus: Azure Data Factory, MS Fabric, Data Governance Professional, etc.
- Experience designing scalable data pipelines and ETL processes for large datasets.
